Water treatment station

Water treatment station

Water is one of the primary components in most specialty liquids. For instance, in antifreeze coolants, water content ranges from 5% to 50%, while in windshield washer fluids, it can reach up to 95%. Clearly, the quality of water used in production significantly impacts the quality of the final product.

Technical water supplied to the production facility contains substantial impurities, including mechanical particles (sand, organic matter), bacterial contamination, and elevated levels of mineral salts (including hardness salts, iron, etc.).

To be suitable for manufacturing specialty liquids, technical water must undergo thorough purification. At BAKSS Company, a dedicated water treatment station ensures water quality meets the specific requirements for each product manufactured.

OZONATION – A BARRIER AGAINST BACTERIA AND IRON

Excessive bacterial contamination in production water can degrade the consumer properties of the final product. Possible consequences include discoloration and unpleasant odors—just a few examples of issues caused by using bacterially contaminated water.

All water used in BAKSS Company’s production processes undergoes ozonation in a

POZITRON-1 series ozone-ultrafiltration water purification and disinfection unit.

Beyond effective biological purification, ozonation also removes excess dissolved iron. Iron (II) is oxidized by ozone into Iron (III), whose compounds are far less soluble and are easily filtered out in subsequent purification stages.

WATER SOFTENING FOR COOLANT PRODUCTION

Water hardness significantly affects the performance characteristics of coolants. Therefore, BAKSS uses only softened water—treated at the BIOS-T water softening and desalination station—for coolant manufacturing.

The softening process relies on a multimedia cation-exchange resin that captures calcium and magnesium ions. As the resin becomes saturated, hardness salt concentration in the output water gradually increases, triggering the system to automatically switch to regeneration mode. Once regeneration is complete, the softening station resumes normal operation, supplying production workshops with water of consistent quality.

DEIONIZED WATER – HIGHER PURITY STANDARDS

Certain production processes demand exceptionally pure water. For example, even trace amounts of salts in windshield washer fluids can leave white streaks on vehicle windshields.

To meet these stringent requirements, BAKSS employs a reverse osmosis water purification system equipped with ULP 21-2540 membranes. This advanced technological process efficiently produces water with salt content comparable to distilled water, while minimizing energy consumption.

The commissioning of the reverse osmosis unit enabled BAKSS to add "Distilled Water" to its product portfolio, fulfilling customer needs for high-purity water used in engine cooling systems, coolant concentrate dilution, and other technical applications.
